WHEN DID I START PORTRAIT PHOTOGRAPHY?

My journey began in 2003 when I joined Venture, a prestigious international portrait company, as a family and children photographer. Over the years, I honed my skills and was honoured with the Photographer of the Year award in 2007. Following this achievement, I transitioned into teaching photography, guiding aspiring photographers to master the craft and earn their diploma course within the company. My work has gained recognition and has been featured in various magazines, online platforms, and advertisements. In 2008, I took a bold step and founded my own company, Natasha Wiening Photography Ltd, which allows me to pursue my passion every day. I now serve a diverse clientele for portrait photography across London and Buckinghamshire.

A LITTLE ABOUT ME

I had the privilege of growing up in South Africa, where I pursued my passion for Graphic Design and Photography. During my studies, I discovered my true calling in Photography and knew it would become my lifelong profession. After completing my education, my partner Eddie and I embarked on an incredible three-month journey across Asia, capturing the unique cultures we encountered along the way. Eventually, London became my home, and it's where I've spent most of my adult life. My heart and soul are my 13-year-old daughter, Reece, whose smiles and giggles brighten up every room. As her mother, I cherish the opportunity to document every moment of her growing up, freezing time through photography to create everlasting memories. Becoming a mother changed my perspective, drawing me closer to newborn photography. I dedicated myself to intensive training courses, allowing my newborn photography to naturally evolve into an organic, pure, and warm creative style. Recently, I made a move from Ealing, West London, to Gerrards Cross, Buckinghamshire, where I find joy in the countryside and relish long walks, especially accompanied by my delightful cockapoo dog, Banksy.

My passion lies in capturing the special bond between parents, babies, and their siblings, reflecting the essence of endless love. Having experienced the journey of motherhood with my own daughter, I understand how tired one can feel after giving birth, making it challenging to want to be in photos. However, I assure you that I'll capture your beauty, and you'll adore the final images. If this is your first outing with your baby, rest assured that my home studio provides a relaxed and comfortable environment. With cozy couches, pillows, and warm heaters, it's a safe place to feed and care for your little one. With years of experience, I'm always here to lend a helping hand with changing or feeding, and I'm an expert at soothing newborns back to sleep. If you've had a caesarean, let me know, and I'll gladly assist you with most things while you enjoy the experience. Many of my clients have affectionately referred to me as the Baby Whisperer, and I believe patience is key.

During each session, I capture photographs of the whole family together, as well as tender mother & baby, father & baby, and individual baby portraits. If this isn't your first baby, I highly recommend adding an extra hour to the session to include cherished sibling photos. I avoid rushing this time as I understand the profound impact a new sibling has on young children, and I take a gentle approach when capturing these moments. My style is calm, intimate, and natural, creating a warm and relaxing environment for you and your baby. It's the perfect setting to create timeless newborn images that you will treasure forever.

With over 19 years of experience in the photography industry, I've explored various styles. As I've matured in my craft, I've discovered a genuine fondness for the simplicity and natural essence of newborn photography. Proficient in both studio and outdoor lighting techniques, I strive to capture the perfect moment in every photo. When retouching my images, I maintain a delicate balance, ensuring that they remain authentic without excessive editing. I believe in using retouching to enhance and perfect, not to create a different version of you. When families come to my studio, my goal is to creatively capture the love and joy they share for one another. With confidence, I guide them through flattering poses that bring out their best selves. These cherished images become even more meaningful with time, serving as nostalgic reminders of beautiful memories.

For maternity photo shoots, you have the option to capture the magic with your partner in a local park within Buckinghamshire and London or in the comfort of your home. In both settings, my pregnancy photography style reflects the love and happiness you and your partner share—the very reason you're bringing a new life into the world, uniting you forever. I approach each shoot naturally, focusing on your bump and the love you both share, aiming to tell your unique story through my lens.

As an artist, I've always been captivated by the power of colour and how skilful use of the colour wheel can elevate images from ordinary to extraordinary and full of creativity. For family photography, my preferred seasons are autumn and spring, as they provide the ideal backdrop for my vision. By blending a shallow depth of field to create a lovely creamy effect, carefully selecting complementary colors, and choosing picturesque venues, I guarantee to produce images that are nothing short of magical. All my on-location shoots take place in local parks, allowing us to explore and discover beautiful backdrops that align with a natural and timeless style. This approach to photography aims to narrate a story through the images, capturing the essence of children's playful spirits, their laughter, and the warmth of your close-knit family.

Light is the foundation of photography, and on overcast days, nature acts as a massive soft box, beautifully illuminating the images and eliminating harsh shadows. I will expertly guide you to find the perfect light in each setup. During post-production, I'll add warmth and subtle enhancements to each photo to make them truly pop. Regardless of the day (as long as it's not raining), all images will exude warmth and perfection. Considering the unpredictable weather in our country, the timing of each location shoot will be flexible. Together, we can monitor the weather forecast and choose the ideal time of day to meet, ensuring we capture the magic under the best conditions.

For most of my clients, the preference is to have their corporate headshot photoshoot at my relaxed studio located in Gerrards Cross, Buckinghamshire. However, if you prefer to be photographed in your work environment, I also offer on-location shoots. This option works exceptionally well for those in hybrid jobs, as it captures your professional persona in a context that reflects your daily work atmosphere.
