Booking a newborn photoshoot within your London or Buckinghamshire home.

Booking a newborn photoshoot within your London or Buckinghamshire home.

Book your newborn photography shoot ahead so that you have a date in your diary.

You’ve carried your baby for 9 months and now they have arrived, and your days are filled with family visits, last minute shopping, midwife appointments and breastfeeding sessions. So much happens within the first few weeks, before you know it your baby is 1 months old. This is completely normal; most mothers don’t have the luxury to sit quietly and surf the internet in a relaxed manner looking for a newborn studio while feeding your baby.

The best time to search for your perfect photographer is while you are pregnant. Go online and enjoy all the beautiful baby photographs, this is the best way to get anyone excited for what’s to come. Find a photographer who you connect with, love their style and make sure they are experienced in their area.

Book a baby shoot for around 2 weeks after your baby is due, this will give both you and the photographer time to prepare and make any date changes should baby arrive early or late.

I am worried about booking a newborn photoshoot; I am not sure how I will feel on the day?

I know this time is overwhelming and exhausting, but I promise you, you’ll regret not getting images taken of your teeny tiny little love. When they are screaming the house down because you gave them the blue cup instead of the green, you can look back on those images and remember that time when they didn’t yell at you oh so fondly. I get it’s overwhelming thinking of getting your photo taken after having a baby, but I am your safe space. I do the session inside your home, with zero expectations and all the time in the world. There is zero pressure, and I am entirely led by you and your baby. I bring everything you need – from props, headbands, baby pants and blankets. I’ve got you. I’ve been there. Debrief your birth, your post-partum, have a cry and hand your baby over so I can capture some baby feet while you put yours up.

I’m sure the thought of opening your home to a stranger is super overwhelming, I completely understand that your house might not be the tidiest right now, you have just had a new baby and cleaning shouldn’t be your priority. Before your newborn photoshoot, I am happy to do a video call with you and we can discuss the space you have and decide together where we will set up a small studio setup. On the day, I will be there to help move things around with your partner so we can make some space for the bean bag, small backdrop, and lighting.

The 5 benefits of having a newborn session within your home.

1.     You are in your safe space. The comfort of your home where you have everything you need at your fingertips. Poo explosion? Jump in the shower. Vomit down your top? Just get changed! My sessions are super relaxed, and I will guide and pose you and make sure you look your best! If your baby is awake or asleep, I have a selection of poses which will work and if your baby needs to feed, I am happy to have a cup of coffee and wait. I don’t try and force any pose on you; I make sure we have a chat before, and I know exactly what poses you love; my images are literally of you and your newborn doing what you do every day – staring at each other and getting to know each other. The feeling I like to capture in a picture is pure love. Please don’t worry about the state of your home, I know what angles to use and what light to position you near and I shoot quite close so it’s literally just you and your family. Afterwards, I retouch all my images so your background will always look perfect.

2.     I bring everything to you, so you don’t have to worry. I have a large collection of newborn/baby clothes, wraps, props and blankets. When I get to you, you are welcome to show me a few outfits you had in mind for you to wear, I will be there to help and guide you. Just think of me as if you were catching up with a friend.  A friend who knows how to use a camera extremely well.

3.     If you have other children, in-home newborn sessions are a better option. They don’t have to be bored while waiting around in a foreign place, they have access to all their toys and snacks for when we need some quieter moments capturing your individual baby portraits. When we are ready to take some sibling and family photos, we know we can just call on them and they will be ready.

4.            I understand that sometimes partners still need to work after having a baby and arranging a day out to come to a studio may be tricky with work calls. In this scenario, having a newborn photoshoot within your home will be easier for you partner as he/she won’t feel the pressure as much. If you are in your home environment, it will be easy for your partner to pop out for a few minutes for work while we do some individual baby portraits or photos where we capture just mum and baby.

5.     If you live in London, I understand that it might be scary to travel in the first few weeks as everything is new and you may prefer to stay home. I am based in Buckinghamshire in Gerrards Cross so it won’t take me long to drive into London. As long as you have parking for my car, I will drive to you and we can reproduce exactly that same newborn photographs I produce in my studio.

I understand that family photos are the most precious so by being in your own home where your children feel most comfortable guarantees relaxed family images.
